Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Rofl, not so hot, I wanted to look better but I love, LOVE good food. I have to say, what a gigantic change. I slept poorly, I had anxiety, I didn’t like myself a whole lot, just all around bleh…..
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
A picture with my wife in my Mess Dress Tuxedo for a military event, I swear I looked like a Shar Pei in a Tux!! Wrinkly bloated face, and when I smiled my eyes disappeared. I couldn’t believe the way I looked and there was no way i was going to pass a physical or meet the requirements for my next military physical readiness test. For lack of a better way yo put it, I had lost my pride and professionalism, it was like I no longer cared and I needed to fix that!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
Learning to eat, hands down. Doing the workouts are tough but easy to commit to, but eating right, and pre-planning to eat during the week was rough out the gates. I have since got a clue, and its easy to pack a lunch for the next day, and the more I learn the more fun and interesting it becomes to figure out healthy ways to put together meals I like the taste and consistency of.
Why did you choose this particular program?
You infomercial worked?? lol Honestly I was traveling for work and feeling sorry for myself about that tux picture, and a T25 commercial was on and I just made up my mind to do it. The workout lengths seemed perfect and I didn’t want to jump into something like P90X and kill myself. I can assure now that I am ready and charging to get started on P90X3!!!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Workout time, and honestly Shaun T is the man! The production quality of the videos really does make you feel like he is there, and I liked the variety. Even during Alpha and Beta the variety is there and things switch up as I moved from modified to full on!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
WOW! I am done from 232 to 206, that is 26 pounds!!! I am down 6 inches around my wasit! I have to wear belts with everything to keep my pants up, and I totally plan to pitch most of my clothes and never go back to a XL shirt or 36-38 pants! I am proud that I did it, I have been told it is hard to commit and I have, 100% for the last 60 days, and it has been worth the fight against ever craving, the tired days, and the plain old ugh days. I DID IT!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I was having anxiety issue that were being treated with medication, I had blood pressure that was slowly creeping up, and I had constant pain in my joints, knees, shoulders, back…..being unhealthy and out of shape was getting ready to wipe me out permanently. I recently went to my Doctor for a routine physical, and I am OFF ALL MEDS, my body feels great, I sleep amazing, my energy is up, and my ability to cope with the BS of every day life is improved 100%!!! I feel great I am starting to believe I look great and I am proud of being ME!
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
I used Shakeology to fill gaps when I missed meals or snacks, but not consistently enough to determine if it actually helped or not. I did notice that it is effective in cutting back cravings, so when I had cravings I would go knock back a glass of shakeology to fight the urge.
Did you achieve any other measurable improvements with a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program? (e.g. Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, triglycerides, etc…)
BP down, 135/89 to 115/80, off Anxiety Meds, no more pain in knees joints back…
What tips or tools did you find most useful? What made them so instrumental?
The beachbody Gym, and my polar H7 Heart Rate monitor. These tools enable me to track and see progress even when the mirror and scale where being stubborn and trying to convince me otherwise. I highly encourage everyone to use tools to track and view progress, its motivating on those days when you look in the mirror and want to throw in the towel.

I am finding Focus T25 every bit as challenging. I am focusing on form and compound movements in Focus T25. I also wear my BodyBugg when I workout. During an Insanity workout, I spent about half the Max workouts in the vigorous workout zone (greater than 6calories/min burned) whereas in Focus T25, I spend nearly all of the 25min in the vigorous workout zone!!! That is what Steve Edwards means by Focus T25 is “efficient.”

“You have room to improve at Insanity, P90X, et al.
Whether we think so or not, most of us (probably all of us) still have room to improve at whatever our favorite workout program or activity happens to be. A round of T25 will help this, even if it serves as an “active recovery” or “transition phase” on your calendar.
The reason is proprioception, discussed in the last post. By slowing down your movements and working on form you will re-program your brain and this will lead to both changes in hormone production and, more importantly for you at this point, an improved nervous system that will better handle the rigors of the next graduate program you do.”

What does the science say? YES! I love reading Steve Edward’s blog for his sound research into these fitness questions.
“Your body has an emergency response to exercise. When you begin, no matter what you’re doing, you burn glycogen for fuel. Once your body figures out that you aren’t in an emergency, it begins to conserve by shifting to body tissue, primarily fat stores, for energy. It was once assumed that training during this “fat burning” period was optimal for weight loss. Now we know it’s the opposite. If you take advantage of the glycogen window by training hard (and smart so you don’t get hurt) you can alter your body’s metabolism—the key to changing your body composition—quickly and efficiently. It is important to note that this doesn’t not mean longer exercise is bad/wrong/unnecessary. Especially athletes, who need 100% efficiency in performance, will need to train body systems that take more than 30 minutes to stimulate. But for the average time-crunched person it’s good to know that short, intense, exercise has been proven to be your ticket to staying healthy.”
For those of us used to training for an hour or more each day, it’s hard to believe that you can lose weight and get fit in less than 30minutes. Everyone in my Focus T25 challenge group is losing weight, losing inches, gaining cardiovascular endurance, and feeling better than ever, in just 25min each day. As one of my challengers put it, you can spend 25min choosing your clothes or spend 25min getting healthy! I choose to get healthy! Just this weekend, I had failed to workout in the morning. My husband and son left to go buy groceries for dinner. I had a light bulb moment. I could get my 25min workout in, and be done before they even got back! It worked perfectly!
